Pet Gear: Dog
Strollers
Do you have any idea how much money Americans
spend on their pets every year?
I'll bet you don't. Take a wild guess.
Whatever number you picked, I'm almost positive it's too low.
Are you sitting down?
Every year, Americans spend over 40 billion
dollars on their pets. Yes, that's billion with a B. That's a
lot of money. Much of it goes for pet food, and health care,
such as trips to the vet.
And a lot of it is spent on grooming our
furry little friends. But a whole bunch of it is spent on pet
gear. Dog strollers, chew toys, cute outfits, etc.
Now, when it comes to pet gear, dog
strollers are different because they're extremely useful.
They're not a luxury at all.
Of course, you can argue that chew toys are
useful too, because they help keep our dogs from chewing up our
slippers and furniture by giving them an outlet for their urge
to gnaw on things. So they serve a purpose.
But cute outfits? It's a real stretch to say
they serve any useful purpose. Actually, it's more like an
outright lie. A little white lie, of course, but still a
lie.
They don't serve any purpose besides making
our dog wish he was somewhere else at the moment.
So when you're tempted to buy Miss Precious
that cute little Alpine sweater and knit cap, think again. Back
away from the pet novelty aisle. And don't blow any money for a
Kiss Me I'm Irish outfit for your pit bull.
Save it, and spend your money on anger
management classes for the little guy. Because he's gonna need
'em if you make him go out in public dressed like that.
No, if you want to get something useful for
both you and your dog, spend your money wisely. When it comes
to pet gear, dog strollers can't be beat!
