or dog in your house.
Our little furry friends are great
companions, and it's hard to imagine life without them, but one
thing you can count on is that they will have wetting accidents
from time to time.
And, as just about every person can
personally attest to, there are few odors as unpleasant as this
particular one. So being prepared for the inevitable is
required if you want to own a pet.
So - how to remove pet
urine?
Well, here's some good news. If you discover
the accident right away, you can usually handle the problem
yourself. And by right away, we're talking within a few minutes
or so. Once it has set int the carpet or other fabric for a
while, it's going to be a lot tougher to deodorize the room or
house.
The first thing to do is to soak up
all the urine with a paper towel or napkin. Then, you'll want
to drench it with water and give it a vigorous scrubbing. Then
sop it up again. Do that two or three times, and odds are you
won't have an odor to deal with, because you caught it in
time.
But knowing how to remove pet urine that has
set for a while is a different story. There are all kinds of
home made recipes you can find on the internet for this
purpose, but many people are disappointed with these home
remedies.
Most of them rely on vinegar, which simply
masks the odor for a time, after which it comes back.
If you don't discover your pet's accident
right away, and there's already a detectable odor, your best
best best is to get one of the many excellent products on the
market to deal with pet urine.
How to remove
pet urine from carpet
If you have pet urine on your carpet, you
may also have urine in the carpet padding. One option is to
lift the carpet to be able to clean the pad completely. That is
quite a job...
Another option is to purchase a commercial
cleaner such as Anti Icky Poo where you can inject the product
into the carpet and padding without needing to rinse. The
product will literally consume the urine and the particles
causing the odor.
Once the odor is in the air, vinegar and
baking soda probably won't get the job done. Get a commercial
product and get your house back to smelling fresh and clean
right away.
