Mr. Biggles is the name of a cat that was placed for adoption by a cat adoption agency in Melbourne. The black short hair was found astray and after staying at Pet Rescue for a while, he became a bit of a vicious feline.
This led the volunteers at the agency to come up with an ingenious way of getting the cat adopted. Described as an “utter bastard” cat, “Lord Bigglesworth” also poses as “gorgeous” with a ‘slinky shiny black fur and big yellow eyes’. The author of the ad makes it very clear that “Lord Biggleworth” is not for the faint-hearted.
“Mr. Biggles (also known as Lord Bigglesworth) is an utter, utter, utter bastard,” the ad begins. The rest of it points out what must be the characteristics of the “human slave” interested in falling under his reign, and some other traits from Mr. Biggles.
“Mr. Biggles is a despot and dictator, he will let you know he is not happy, which is often because things are often just not up to his high standards,” is how the Cat People of Melbourne would describe this bastard cat.
Even if you want to pet this three-year-old feline, you have to do it within his standards, otherwise, you will be doomed to his despise. “If the stroking is not up to his standards, he will nip you.”
The author of the ad does admit that the cat has a soft spot. He does like to play with other kittens and loves to chat with you.
The ‘honest’ description of Mr. Biggles actually called the attention of thousands of readers who showed interest in adopting the cat. Unfortunately, to fans overseas or even outside Melbourne, the cat was only offered to locals.
“Mr. Biggles is not available for overseas adoption, if you think he’s a bastard normally he’d be 1000% worse after being stuck in quarantine for six months and then on a plane. So we’re not going to put anyone’s lives at risk by doing that…” Pet Rescue wrote in their webpage.
